Online piracy! Is it even illegal to mention the word online. Or is there some law to make it your Facebook status today?
Yes, it is a serious issue. To impose on the freedoms of research is unequivocally un-American. Might as well just suck the stars off the blue corner of our nation’s banner, and paste a big ol’ eye there. You know, because big brother is obviously watching.
I don’t know enough about SOPA or any similar movement in Congress. I do know that I have heard or seen many types of people decry the movements by our government. This does bring me to somewhat wonder, is it all a sham?
Okay, not in the sense that we all fell for the biggest trick in the world, but how likely is it that this bill will get passed. Maybe congress members don’t have a Facebook or use Wikipedia, Mozilla, or keep up a blog on WordPress.
I guess, truthfully, it seems that this bill might just be another one of those random bills that someone tried to slip through. Interest groups or not, I’m surprised that whoever is pushing this bill did not anticipate such a backlash by the tech-savvy people of our country. I mean, liberals do like to use the internet when they are not hugging trees or feeding the poor. . .
Across the board, I applaud everyone for having such fervent beliefs. And then, I question why it takes such attacks on our civil liberties to suddenly make people so proactive. Some of those protesting SOPA might not actually believe in our government system, so for them this is just another example of the idiocracy over in D.C. For others, I wonder if they even understand the numerous amount of stupid bills that get voted on. Why try to fix a leaky faucet when the whole bathroom needs new plumbing, flooring, painting, and mopping?
Sure, some stupid bills do get passed and turned into laws without an eyeblink by the public. However, a lot of bills do end up serving as nothing but fodder for the clashing aisles. Staring at each other, taking turns giving speeches, all on the taxpayer’s dime.
With the fervent backing of so many tech companies and web services, it seems that this bill is going to surely fail. If it does? Well, then maybe it is time to go full-yuppie and break bread in Paris.
For the moment, I just would like to access Wiki and do some quick side research for my next lesson. I mean, what other site lets you translate things into Simple English?
